My personal recollections of painting this Nexus
#40 cover are fairly vivid, as are most of my Nexus covers from the
80's. Here's some memories...
Besides using Rutger Hauer in the black suit
and weapon, and some guy we invented for the story that managed a
porn shop, the two people in the back row are actually people I know. The
clown standing on his head is someone I knew from 2nd grade, named Alan
Dinkert. ( The name fit pretty well). The girl in the
lingerie was, *GASP!*, my neighbor in the apartment next to
me! For the photo shoot, she got pretty much dressed (undressed) the way
you see her here, along with the two butcher knives needed as props. ( I
remember wanting to see how the reflections worked off the blades.) She
was a great sport and a real sweetheart in posing for this rather
risqué request.
15 x 20 Acrylic. The painting itself is in fantastic condition. This is one of the paintings that someone stripped off the illustration board so it would run through the scanner better so it's really about half the weight of illustration board, more like thick paper.
